Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) has signed a five-year agreement with Orange Egypt for the transformation of the operators’ Business Support Systems (BSS). The transformation will include the introduction of Ericsson’s Charging & Billing in One (CBiO) solution – a cutting-edge technology in this domain – and preparing Orange Egypt’s BSS stack for LTE introduction.
With this technology evolution of its BSS, Orange Egypt will become a more agile service provider by streamlining its operations and solutions for an enhanced customer experience.
The introduction of CBiO will facilitate new offering mechanisms and provide new capabilities for Orange Egypt. Subscribers will benefit from the advantages of convergent charging and billing and the enhanced experience that comes from billing flexibility, which will allow them to try new services without facing unexpected costs at the end of the month.
Furthermore, Orange Egypt will also prepare its network for the introduction of LTE in order to best cater for the new technology and associated expected traffic uptake.
Hisham Siblini, Chief Technology Officer, Orange Egypt, says: “Modernizing our systems to a converged solution will help OEG to address the market dynamics for different network types and charging modes either fixed or mobile or LTE and from customer side to address all customer types regardless of the payment method. This will also help in providing next generation services and business models. Moreover, this partnership will help in reducing the TCO and improve operational efficiency within the charging and billing domain by streamlining the architecture and modernizing the platforms to the latest technology. Our aim is to lead the way for telecommunications in Egypt, and we can only do this by cooperating with trusted partners like Ericsson to ensure that we always stay one step ahead of the game.”
Helene Henriksson, Head of Ericsson Egypt, says: “We are seeing increased IT demands across the business landscape, with speed and responsiveness becoming decisive as competitive advantages. Our partnership with Orange Egypt in this transformation means it can offer advanced services that meet the expectations of today’s digitally savvy subscribers and open new opportunities for communication, innovation and productivity.”
Ericsson’s charging and billing solutions allow operators to handle all customers, partners and services in a streamlined, convergent process and support prepaid and postpaid, voice and data, fixed and mobile, retail and wholesale customers in a single system. Ericsson’s solutions also support new machine-to-machine offerings and advanced subscriber and partner management capabilities, which create new opportunities for operators to be innovative in their service offerings.
